The Orchard Foundation is introducing its interactive early literacy initiative, ‘Read to Soar,’ to LaSalle Parish families. Starting Thursday, Feb. 27 sessions will be held weekly from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the LaSalle Head Start Center, located at 1465 School St. in Jena.
Led by literacy specialist Chasity Sherrill, ‘Read to Soar’ is a free, eight-session program designed for children from birth to age five and their parents or caregivers. The initiative aims to foster a culture of reading at home by educating parents, building children’s home libraries, and increasing awareness of community resources to support school readiness.
Participants will receive five free books at each session, culminating in a collection of 40 books upon completing the program. Families will also gain valuable tips and resources to support their children’s early literacy development.
Interested families are encouraged to register promptly to secure their spot. For more information and to sign up, visit the registration page online at bit.ly/3WTqmXK
