Students from Jena Junior High and LaSalle Junior High successfully completed the 2024–2025 MedStart program, an initiative by Central Louisiana AHEC designed to introduce middle schoolers to healthcare careers. Throughout the school year, over 75 eighth-grade students participated in monthly sessions featuring professionals such as nurses, EMTs, and dietitians, who provided hands-on demonstrations and career insights.

The MedStart program aims to inspire students to consider healthcare professions, addressing workforce needs in rural communities.
