LaSalle Parish 4-H recently encouraged local participation in the event, reminding interested attendees that RSVP registration is required by June 5.
The educational program will begin at 8:30 a.m. following registration from 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. at the Macon Ridge Research Station located at 212A Macon Ridge Road in Winnsboro.
Organizers say the event is designed to provide hunters, landowners, wildlife managers, and conservation enthusiasts with valuable information on effective deer and habitat management practices through field demonstrations and expert-led presentations.
Featured topics during the field day will include warm-season forage options, soil sampling considerations, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) program updates, Louisiana deer harvest and Chronic Wasting Disease updates, and the Boone and Crockett scoring system.
Attendees will also hear presentations from wildlife specialists, forestry experts, biologists, and representatives from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, NRCS, LSU AgCenter, and the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Among the scheduled presentations is an update on the New World screwworm, along with discussions on evaluating forage management practices beneficial to deer populations and habitat development.
Officials say the event will include field tours, educational demonstrations, and opportunities for participants to network with wildlife professionals and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
There is no entry fee for the event, and lunch will be provided complimentary to attendees.
Those planning to attend are encouraged to RSVP by Friday, June 5, by calling 318-649-2663 for additional details and registration information.
The LSU AgCenter says the program is intended to benefit both experienced hunters and individuals interested in learning more about wildlife conservation and deer management practices across Louisiana.
