GEO group donates shotguns to LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and JenaPolice Department

The LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office and Jena Police Department have received a donation of firearms from the local GEO Group facility, a contribution officials say will help strengthen public safety efforts throughout the parish.

According to the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office, Warden Shad Rice and the local GEO Group facility recently completed a formal donation of shotguns to both law enforcement agencies.

Sheriff Lane Windham and Jena Police Chief Scott McLendon expressed their appreciation for the contribution, noting that the donation will provide additional resources for officers serving the community.

Officials said the firearms will support local law enforcement operations and enhance the equipment available to first responders tasked with protecting residents throughout LaSalle Parish.

“This donation directly supports local law enforcement officers and enhances public safety resources across the community,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in announcing the contribution.

Both agencies emphasized the importance of partnerships between local organizations and public safety departments, saying community support plays a valuable role in helping law enforcement agencies maintain the tools and resources necessary to carry out their duties effectively.

Sheriff Windham and Chief McLendon also recognized the GEO Group’s continued commitment to supporting local first responders and public safety initiatives.

Law enforcement leaders said they value the ongoing partnership and look forward to continuing collaborative efforts that benefit both officers and the communities they serve.

The donation reflects a broader effort by community organizations and local stakeholders to support public safety agencies and ensure they have the resources needed to respond to emergencies, protect residents, and maintain public safety throughout LaSalle Parish.
