Registration for camp C.S.I. summer youth program now open

Students interested in law enforcement, forensic science, and criminal investigations will soon have an opportunity to step into the world of crime scene analysis through the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office Camp C.S.I., a free summer educational program designed for local youth.

The Sheriff’s Office recently announced registration is now open for its second law enforcement camp of the summer, offering students entering 6th through 12th grades a hands-on introduction to forensic science and careers in law enforcement.

Scheduled for July 14-16, 2026, Camp C.S.I. will take place daily from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the LaSalle Parish Courthouse 4-H Meeting Room in Jena.

According to organizers, the three-day camp will provide participants with interactive learning experiences focused on crime scene investigations, forensic science techniques, and practical applications used by law enforcement professionals. The camp will culminate in a final immersive investigation where students will apply the skills they have learned throughout the program.

In addition to introducing students to potential careers in law enforcement, the camp also aims to educate youth about the dangers of opioid misuse and prevention. Funding for the program is provided in part through opioid abatement settlement funds.
