The LSU AgCenter will host its 2026 Grazing School, a five-session program designed to provide information and hands-on experience covering a variety of topics related to forage production for livestock operations.

The Grazing School will begin Sept. 16 and continue through Nov. 10. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch and refreshments provided.

The five sessions and topics include:

Sept. 16 – Session I: Soil Fertility and Health; Components of Grazing Plans

Oct. 1 – Session II: Comparing Forage Species and Weed Management

Oct. 14 – Session III: Establishing Forages; Hay Production; Supplementation Considerations

Oct. 28 – Session IV: Grazing Behavior; Forage Intake and Digestibility; Animal Health

Nov. 10 – Session V: Grazing Systems; Fencing and Water Supply; Economics of Grazing

Sessions will be held at the State Evacuation Center, Rapides Cooperative Extension Office and Dewitt Livestock Show Facility.

Registration is $175 per participant, and participation is limited to 30 people. The registration deadline is Sept. 7, 2026.
