Central Louisiana Technical Community College (CLTCC) is expanding its healthcare education opportunities at the Rod Brady Jena Campus with the addition of a Patient Care Technician (PCT) program that will include phlebotomy and electrocardiogram (EKG) technician training.
According to the college, the new courses are scheduled to begin in January 2027, providing students in LaSalle Parish and surrounding communities with additional opportunities to pursue careers in the healthcare industry.
The program will offer instruction in phlebotomy, which involves collecting blood samples for medical testing, and EKG technology, which focuses on recording and monitoring the electrical activity of the heart.
Both skills are used in hospitals, clinics, medical laboratories and other healthcare settings.
The college announced that enrollment is currently open, with a limited number of spots available for interested applicants.
According to the program’s promotional flyer, the training is designed to be completed in approximately one year, allowing students to develop technical skills for potential employment in healthcare-related positions.
Financial aid is also available for eligible applicants, helping make the program more accessible to individuals interested in entering or advancing within the medical field.
The addition of the PCT program represents an expansion of the educational and workforce training opportunities available at the Rod Brady Jena Campus.
College officials are encouraging prospective students to contact the campus or visit in person to learn more about admission requirements, course schedules, financial assistance and enrollment procedures.
Individuals interested in the program may contact the CLTCC Rod Brady Jena Campus at 318-992-2910 or email jenacampus@cltcc.edu.
With classes scheduled to begin in January, prospective students are encouraged to inquire early due to limited enrollment availability.
The new program will provide another local pathway for individuals seeking technical training and career opportunities in the healthcare field.
