The Jena Police Department recently received a special donation aimed at bringing comfort to children during difficult and often stressful situations.
The department announced that it was honored to receive several “Patrol Pals” boxes from a young community volunteer named Lila, founder of the charitable initiative known as Lila’s Patrol Pals.
According to the department, the project began with Lila’s desire to help children facing challenging circumstances and has since grown into a mission focused on providing comfort through stuffed animals distributed to law enforcement agencies and first responders.
Through the program, Lila collects donated stuffed animals, cleans and packages them, and delivers them to agencies where officers can provide them to children who may be experiencing fear, sadness, trauma, or uncertainty during emergency situations.
Police officials expressed appreciation for Lila’s efforts and the positive impact the donations will have on local families.
While the stuffed animals may appear to be simple gifts, officers noted that they can offer reassurance and emotional support to children during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, including accidents, emergencies, and other stressful encounters.
