The Jena High School Band is preparing for a new chapter after announcing plans to move from District 1, a change band leaders said has been in the works for some time.
The program has spent years as part of District 1, which is centered around schools in the Monroe area. Jena High School Band officials described their experience in the district as a positive one, citing the knowledge, relationships and strong sense of community developed with fellow band programs and directors.
Band leaders said they are grateful for the years spent working alongside Monroe-area schools and the experiences students and staff gained through that association.
At the same time, the program said it is excited about the upcoming transition and the opportunity to expand its connections with additional bands and directors.
“This is something we have been working on for a long while,” the Jena High School Band stated in announcing the change, adding that the program is excited to welcome more bands and directors into its extended family.
Additional details about the new district and what the transition will mean for future competitions and events were not included in the announcement.
